VM - changing phone numbers

Just received a text today saying that effective 11/12/11, we will now be charged a fee for changing phone numbers: 10 dollars online and 15 dollars by live adviser. If it's not one thing it's another. That amount is simply outrageous. I've been with VM about 5 years and have liked them, but lately, I'm having suspicion that they are gonna end up down hill if they continue acting like their 2year contract counterparts - periodic price hikes and fees on everything.

I got the same message. I didn't understand it. Has anyone contacted Virgin Mobile
or the FCC on this? As endusers, aren't they supposed to inform us why they are
going to do this first? Or is this a "fake txt" sent out to hack our phone numbers.
I read about these things so I don't trust any of it. Does anyone have any feed
back from VM to share?

Virgin was already charging $10 to change your number with a live csr; now it will apply to the web based number change. It was talked about on the vm facebook page, I for one have no problem with the charge. I changed my number once last year, and prior to that had the same number for years on vm. They allow you to change your number once every 24 hours for free now, and with the amount of phone numbers reaching a limit, this is a good way to ensure there's not as much of a problem getting a new one if you need it.
