VM data done right on moto e lte problem

I have a virgin mobile data done right moto e lte that I bought at Wal-Mart. Service sucked and I stupidly tried to transfer it to straight talk. The porting didn't work so after 48 hours I tried to take it back to virgin mobile. Now it won't work at all. VM mobile id app used for activating the device is missing and won't download. Spent two frustrating weeks talking to reps from virgin mobile. I think it might be locked to VM. Or firmware is screwed in trying to change carriers. Or might be VM Fed policy. I just want it to work on ANY carrier!!!!
 
Well, supposedly, it's unlocked. They gave me the msl code for all that's any good for. I think the firmware might be screwed. I dunno. I actually have been corresponding with Dennis at prepaidphonenews re this issue. It might be a paperweight at this point. Still chasing down three other last ditch options. 1. A special SIM from Dan @ Stillboosted.com that is said to work on Samsung and HTC. 2. Ringplus. Device check says I'm good to go. 3. Expo mobile suggested reactivating VM account, get acct number and pin, port number to separate phone at expo offices thus freeing up moto e and activate with new number. Thoughts?
 
I'm afraid I don't have any informed opinion on any of those choices, sorry!:-\ Good luck--hope you get it sorted out.
