VM notification on Pixel 2 xl won't go away.

Have a Google Pixel 2 Xl 64 Gb (Verizon) Vm icon keeps popping up and I have no VM's.Tried the usuall stuff clear cache/data from phone app,restart phone.Icon keeps coming back.Called verizon they are of no help.Google says its a carrier issue.Always had good luck with ya all on here. Any ideas on how to fix this annoying issue? Much appreciated...Thxs

I use Google Voice for VM and had this exact same problem a few years back. This fix helped me.
