Voice: can't change text notification sound

No matter what sound I select in settings voice will use the default notification sound for incoming messages.

I can't tell if this broke in the last app update or when I upgraded to Oreo.

Seems I've run into this sort of thing before and the fix was to enable storage access to the app, far as I can tell it has it. Don't know what to do.

I had the same issue, changing sounds within the app did nothing. The workaround for me was to long press the Google voice icon, app info, then app notifications. Once I changed them in there it stuck.

Didn't work at first and then I realized there was one specifically for text notifications which was what I needed, thanks.
