Is there any app or combination of apps that will simulate Siri, in that I can initiate it via a headphone button, speak a command and have my phone execute it? It would also be ideal if it would read me texts as well. This is the one 'i' feature that I miss when I'm out running and want to text my wife.

Vlingo is a voice command app for Android that is similar to Siri. Depending upon the version of Android OS that you are running, the new iteration of Google Search will work similarly with greater accuracy than Siri or Vlingo. I believe that you must be running Android OS version 4.1 or higher for the new Google Search functionality. I tested Siri, Vlingo, and Google Search side by side by side and Google Search was fasted and most accurate. (informal testing, not hard core testing)
