Yesterday, Google released an update for Google Now that includes Reminders. Does anyone else notice that it takes longer to start the voice search feature? Previously, it takes maybe half a second from the time you launch it to the time when it says Speak Now. But now it can sometimes take one or two full seconds.

I can't correlate your data point - when I open Google Now it seems ready to accept speech input ("say Google") as soon as the app is opened.

I checked a few minutes ago, and Now seemed to be working fine. Maybe a reboot or clearing of the phones cache in recovery?

After you say "Google", how long does it take before it says "Speak now" when it is actually listening?

My galaxy nexus takes almost three seconds to initialize the voice search after I say Google out hit the mic icon, my nexus 7 does not have this issue with the newer version, however.

After I say "Google" mine instantly (a second or less) goes to the screen where it shows "Speak now" (note however that it never actually SAYS "Speak now" as you seem to allude to). And if I start talking right away it does recognize what I said, so there's no delay.
