Voicemail issue

I've discovered that when someone calls me and I don't answer the phone, the number that briefly shows up in the missed call notification does not match the number that was calling and does not match the number in the voicemail app.

The number that is consistently showing up is from a 772 area code. I'm not understanding why this is happening.

Is this for only one particular contact, or for all contacts? If it's one particular one, does that person use Google Voice or a similar service?

It's happening with everyone who calls.

I had AT&T test it out. While they were calling, the phone displayed the 1-800 number of AT&T. At the moment that the new voicemail notice appears, it shows that there's a new voicemail from a 772 area code.

There's no voicemail from that number and the missed call number didn't originate from 772.

Did you get your phone from AT&T directly, or was it from a different carrier, or unlocked?

Phone came directly from AT&T. According to a google search, the phone number that briefly appears for the voicemail notification corresponds to a debt collector agency in Florida.

Ask AT&T to replace your SIM card to see if that helps.

I stopped by an AT& T store to ask about this voicemail issue.

Apparently, there's a number that is separate from the cell number that belongs to the voicemail. The number that I briefly see when a new voicemail arrives is my actual voicemail number.
