Voicemail notification not clearing after listening

Just figured I'd check here and maybe save a phone call to Verizon. This is a new issue, when I get a voicemail I go in and listen to it and after hanging up my phone plays the notification sound again and the voicemail icon never goes away. It only goes away when I delete the voicemail and it used to always clear after listening to the message.

Any idea what's going on? I'm guessing this might be a Verizon thing huh?

Hey Rev -- Mine's always been like that unless I delete or save the message. If I just hang up, it considers the message new and recycles the whole new voicemail deal. Try saving the message rather than just hanging up and it should clear. I sometimes hang up if I want to leave the voicemail notification to remind me to respond to the voicemail.

Thanks Melster! Odd though, cause I could swear it used to clear simply after listening to a voicemail. Maybe I'm just confusing things cause I typically delete voicemails on my phone and almost never need to save them. So it could be I just never noticed it until the time I listened and simply hung up. It's odd behaviour. It's just like - how would people feel if the new email indicator stayed on after reading the message, and additionally it played the notification sound? I mean, we already know there's a message so why play the sound when I hang up after listening? Weird. Thanks again.

Voicemail icon won't clear after listening, deleting or saving voicemail and I don't have a clear voicemail icon option in any of my settings. HELP!
:'(

Might have to call Verizon and have them help. Only thing I have read about it staying even when *deleting* the voicemail is either you have Google Voice installed or it needs to be cleared on Verizon's end, but maybe someone can help. Being I'm the one that created the thread I will say I still get the voicemail icon staying after listening to a voicemail - annoying as f&*@. But it clears once I delete it. I've lived with it.

Wierd. I have an issue where sometimes messages that I've deleted will go to my saved messages and when I try to delete them from there they don't delete.

I just fixed this problem on my Virgin Mobile (Sprint) HTC EVO V 4G. I got the solution from another post but it is a temporary fix and after googling the problem, it seems this issue problem is across the board affects a variety of phone carriers and a variety of phone brands and models.

First - the TEMPORARY[/FONT] FIX FOR REMOVING VOICEMAIL (VOICE MAIL) NOTIFICATION DATA AND ICON FROM STATUS BAR:
1. GO to SYSTEM SETTINGS.
2. SELECT APPS.
3. SELECT ALL (APPS).
4. GO to and SELECT PHONE.
5. PRESS "CLEAR DATA" - the voicemail notification icon will disappear.

This is a TEMPORARY FIX and in isolating the causes - I came across three known causes:
1. The voicemail (voice mail) notification icon will RE-APPEAR in status bar after resetting your phone to factory settings, and
2. The voicemail (voice mail) notification icon will RE-APPEAR in status bar after SYSTEM UPDATES - UPDATE PROFILE.
3. Restarting phone also causes the pseudo voicemail notification icon to RE-APPEAR in status bar.
