Volume and pause buttons on headphones aren't working

[Android Central Question]

So i recently got a new pair of headphones (JBL LIVE 650BTNC) and they work excellent, except i tried pausing the song for a second and it didn't work, and soon enough i found out that the volume buttons didn't work too. I didn't find a fix online so i got a newreplacement but the issue is still present! I have an older Bluetooth pair and they work just fine. Any ideas on a fix? Thanks. (Android Pie)

Hi, I'm on an LG G6, and yes other headphones with remote control buttons work like i said it the post. I have tried restarting but doesn't seem to work

Some headphones are designed for android and some for apple. Are these designed for use with android phones? Do they work with other android phones?
At least this was the case with wired headphones. Are these wired or wireless?

I think these are designed for Android since they only have google assistant and alexa support, and yes they are Bluetooth headphones.

Whoops! Sorry, I kept thinking the JBLs are wired rather than wireless, and overlooked your mention of trying another Bluetooth pair of headphones. I looked on the product site, and they do confirm that they should be compatible with both Android and iPhone.

Just curious -- if you do connect using the included cable, do the remote controls work then?

Also, does it help if you install the My JBL Headphones app?

Looking through the reviews on their site, it seems like a number of people have encountered that issue. Not sure if it's a problem with your unit, or if there's some kind of incompatibility with that phone.
