Volume level after Kit Kat

Hello everyone, I just picked up a N7 2013 a week ago and upgraded to Kit Kat. I have noticed that when at max speaker volume the sound doesn't get that loud. Through the speaker and headphones both. At max its still comfortable . I'm coming from an iPad mini which at max is much louder. Is this normal? Understanding that you're not here to have a listen.

The volume rocker is easy to hit when switching between portrait and landscape modes. Are you certain the volume levels are still at max?

Positive. I can't imagine its hardware since its with the speakers and headphones.
