Volume settings not tied to each other?

On my old device with 2.3.4 there was an option you could check to have Ringtone volume and Notification alert volume levels to be linked (one in the same), in essence making the volume up and down buttons perform both as one.

On my new device with 4.1.2 this does not appear to be the case. All volume types seem to be independent of one another. Can anyone else confirm this across the board, or is it just LG devices on 4.1.x?

The stock choices in Jelly Bean are:

Music, video, games & other media

Ringtone & Notifications

Alarms

You're saying the stock choices of *linkable* volume options? If so, I see no option to link any combination above whatsoever. Every volume option appears as its own independent slider.

EDIT: specifically the Ringtone & Notification combination. That is the one I'm after, and unable to link.

What I am saying is your previous experience is accurate for a stock JB o/s. It would appear LG has altered this somewhat.

Sadly the stock experience has done away with separate ring and notification volume. The custom LG, Motorola, and Samsung themes separate them, but give you no ability to link them together. It annoyed me enough I wrote a simple app to adjust the two at the same time. Linked Volume Control in the Play store.
