Thanks to Mr. Cheetos I installed a VPN on my laptop and was able to use the same VPN on my V20 and not pay the fee. I know there are free VPN's but I needed a VPN that did not slow down my downloads and clog me with ads on my PC. The one I installed is great and came recommended by my son who has a roommate that is the IT guy at a local University, to clarify, we do a lot of illegal downloads and online banking so we do not want to be tracked by our ISP and have our information sold.

Well I did notice the battery life suffered and when I went into settings after one day the VPN used over 21%. Well now I have it turned off and will turn it back on as needed. Especially when I do banking from my phone.

VPNs are getting a lot mentions in the press but we shouldn't allow ourselves to be convinced they're a completely comprehensive solution. Most VPN services are more about selling you peace-of-mind than actually providing a service that actually protects you. Finding one that's a) legit and b) actually fits in with your unique and individual online habits requires some research and effort on your part.
Why those 'Best VPN' lists rarely apply to you:

VPN misconceptions:

This recent study on Android VPN apps indicates most are either questionably effective or just plain problematic:

Here's a nice listing of the various aspects you should take into account when looking for an appropriate VPN service:

Some VPNs actually leak your IP address. Don't just install a VPN and assume it's working, you need to check it periodically:

... and if you want to 'roll your own' there's the option of setting up your own, using OpenVPN:

Give Algo a look. It's ipsec based and it should satisfy your latency requirement.

It does involve a bit of knowledge but if you want, practice in your own VM.

I rolled my own in a Digital Ocean instance. I pay $5/month.
