vzn 3g galaxy tab ships stock with ec02

Hi all- new vzn 3g galaxy tab with contract shipped stock with ec02 installed. Read that superoneclick can re-root a root broken by ec02 update, but can it 1st-time-root an already installed ec02? Also recall something that heimdall can't revert back from locked bootloader, and that bootloader-patches not out yet for cdma units. Might return to try luck with refurb or used unit if new unit won't root. Comments? thanks, bnoo
