VZW Tactics viz a viz Bionic OTA

Tactics are different from Strategy...Marketing plans for the GN launch are made early in the process and Tactics come in at the last minute.

VZW is now doing the OTA for the Bionic - first there was a 'push' to X number of owners and all weekend folks on both the AC Bionic forum and the Moto forum were unable to get the update from the Settings/About/Update steps.

That changed at about midnight EST Monday night. Lots of threads/posts in both Bionic forums now about getting the OTA without a push notification like I got last week.

Looks to me like VZWs Tactics now might be to get the Bionic OTA mostly completed via the Google servers and VZW network before bogging them down with GN activations *and* the OTA for ver 4.1 for the GN.

I have no idea how many BIonics are out there and no clue how long that OTA procedure might take, BUT, I'll bet VZW *does* know and as the Bionic server load eases, VZW will determine whether the Dec 15 date is workable for the GN.

Hang tight, folks...still a chance to make it "by the end of the year"!!

There's no doubt the setbacks aren't happening without a reason and this could be a valid reason. After all, VZW did say by the end of the year and it is still 2011. The explanation we all would love to hear won't ever come so it's still just sit and wait and be happy when the date arrives.

If a delay past the 15th happens and a Bionic OTA update has anything to do with it, I will break every Bionic I find.

No offense but you have absolutely no idea what ur talking about. Who said this update for the bionic is coming via verizon? Verizon is a carrier no a software vendor....

Correct their NETWORK not servers. Verizon has no affliation with software updates. It has no verizon servers to bog down. Now im assuming the do a tiered rollout as to not flood the network but i doubt that is an issue.

It makes sense. I mean they don't want the servers getting blown up with 2 phones searching for updates. Not saying that is why the delay is for but I know that is why they stagger the release of ota's.
