So, I posted a little while ago about my Evo being stolen and me taking the chance to get an Epic.

I don't do this sort of thing often, but I excepted the phone to be like $450-ish.

I've only had my Sprint contract for about 2 months so an upgrade is pretty much out of the question.

Do you think it would be cheaper to just cancel my contract and start a new one?

Where did you see it for $650? Best Buy? Cause take a look at the price of the Evo. They sell off-contract higher than anybody else. Go to a Sprint store, its $500 there.

The phone is $500 from sprint. That's why it is good to have Insurance. You could have gotten a replacement for $100.00. If you cancel yoru contract there is no guarantee they will give you another one and they could make you pay a deposit.

Bestbuy and Radioshack non-contract prices are jacked up. If you want to buy an Epic 4G off contract either buy it from a Sprint store for $499 or from Amazon for $489.

thanks for the info guys ~ I did have insurance on my other phone it was just through best buy so no theft coverage -.-

now to get a refund on my preorder...

I am just curious but why did you get a best buy warranty? It cost more and covers less plus people have had nightmares in getting a replacement. They make you wait 30 days.

It was my first time buying any sort of crazy phone like that ~ the way it was explained to me is that the BB one is better for accidental damage where as the Sprint is better for theft/loss.

I always make the wrong decision.. surely if I had chosen the Sprint one I would have fallen into a river or something with it in my pocket.

Get the Sprint insurance on the next one.. the river damage is covered too!!

Any chance you had Lookout setup on the Evo? If not, then I highly recommend doing it on the Epic. Should it get stolen, log on to the nearest webbrowser you can find and you can find your phone via GPS

BB said they price match as well and the rep said they can look up the price on sprint.com and check but that didn't make sense to me because usually they need a print ad.

Bbs price match is crap. They will never let you actually do it.

I fell into a river with a treo 650 smartphone and it was completely submerged for about five minutes. dried it out over a fan for three days and it was perfect. used it daily for another year. no problems.

That phone looks like a brick anyways! You could probably drop it off a cliff and still use it! :D

I too see it for 499 at amazon. But im sure it will be cheaper on craigslist. No refund though. But either is probably better than buying from sprint, best buy, or radio shack since you will get taxed.
