Wakup DI with Optical Trackpad

So you have to hit the power button, then just click the optical trackpad?

No you can either hit the power button or the trackpad to wake the phone you have the option to use either one. I find it easier to hit the trackpad vs. the power button sometimes.

It would be nice to have an option to use joystick only and turn off power button. Mine always wakes up as im pulling it out of the holster.

Oh nice I thought it was the power button then optical joystick wake up. I was like, Wo pmf has had this for awhile. Going to go check that or asap. Thanks for the heads up.

Sent from my phone, indeed!

Now I just have to remember to use the joystick after using the top power button its become to much of a habit to break.

I'm not rooted so I guess I cant do it but it would be great if Froyo has this option in it. Sometimes I don't remember if I shut off my phone and I have to hit the power button to check. If I did shut it down I now have to wait for it to boot up again and then shut it back down again.

I just got the time to do this; awesome and easy.

Thanks for the heads up, this is very useful.

Also, here's a link to the update.zip, so you don't have to search for it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7257283&postcount=13 Download that, and put it on the root of your SD card. You can rename it to find it easier.

Here's a step-by-step guide for anyone a little nervous. All you have to do is:

1. Boot into recovery (you may want to do a nandroid backup here as well).
2. Select 'install zip from sdcard'
3. Select 'choose zip from sdcard'
4. Select the file you downloaded.
5. After it's installed, hit the power button and select reboot.

There you go, you'll be able to use the trackpad to wake the phone up, instead of the power button. I find it useful, since my case makes it somewhat difficult to press the power button.

Hello JKK or anyone else who can help,
I was reviewing your instructions to installing the trackpad wakeup. I am rooted, and was able to get into recovery mode, and followed the steps you had, but when i followed the "tree" down the update file in the root, it only got down to the keylayout.
I installed the entire update folder in this way.
I opened the "no name" drive on my mac, and placed the entire folder in the root along with Android, clockwork, lost, media, etc.
Firstly, is that the right place for it?
I thought your instructions were great, and hoped to have this new option, but to now avail.
is there a more in-depth path you can assist me with.

Thank you so much for any help you can offer.

Don't unzip the file. Just place "update.zip" in the root of your SD card. You should never be accessing the keylayout folder.

When you plug in your phone to the computer and open up your sdcard that is the root of the card. If you start opening different folders inside you are no longer in the root of the card.

Do you have to be rooted for this to work?

Yes.

I dont have an XDA user name can someone just put a DL link?

FYI for the guys with SR Roms. The dev puts this hack into ROM package. It's an option for you to download. You can find it in the ROM manager. Go
Download ROM > Ihtfp69 > Goodies > select Optical Wake

There ya go! I figured everyone knew about that?

Yes, there is an app for this. It's called "No Lock". It allows you to unlock your phone with the power button, volume buttons, trackpad button or any other button you might have. It even has a widget to turn it on and off. A simple download from the market is a lot easier than this.

i just can not get this to work please help !!! i followed the directions to a T but it does not work
