Since the official Samsung s-view wireless wallet doesnt actually a place to keep a credit card or two, I decided to take my chances with finding a 3rd party wallet case (that's still compatible with the slightly thicker wireless charging back cover).

I have a feeling I'm, not the first person to try this; but, oddly, enough, I can't find any information on this.. There was a couple of youtube videos about traditional non-wallet protective cases (which I'm not interested in).

I can't give you exact measurements (I held my Note 3 with an added internal Qi receiver about 1/4" [about 1.5 times the so-called maximum distance] from my charging plate and it charged. And it charges when it's inside an Otterbox Defender, which isn't a thin case.)

I'd guess (just a guess) that any wallet case with material about the thickness of the leather they use on these cases (or vinyl or whatever other stuff they use) would be thin enough, as long as there isn't a foil film inside the back cover. Put a thick piece of fabric (leather, suede, something thicker than the case back would be) on your charging pad, lay the phone down on it and see if it charges. If it does, it will with the thinner case fabric.

Thanks for the very helpful post and video. I'm using the official Samsung wireless qi cover. I'm curious if it will still fit in the Bear Motion wallet case.
Also, which chargers would you recommend for it? I saw the Nokia that you used; but, was looking for something a little bigger.

Thanks,

I tested using the Bear Motion...

The Samsung Wireless Cover will not fit perfect. One side of the lip and stick out a little. I modified the original Samsung Wireless Cover and placed the coil inside the stock cover (I linked to the video on how to make the modification is you are brave). That is how I got mine to work. I find that the Nokia DT-900 and the PowerBot PB1020 works great all of the time. I also have an Energizer dual charger and could not get the Bear Motion to work without some constant adjusting. This however defeats one of the primary benefits of the wireless charging.

I've tried a few chargers, from the ridiculous to the sublime, as they used to say. Measurements show 640mA charge no matter which one I used. So I bought the Lugu Lake for $13 and it's been charging the phone for months. (Nice green light to tell you when you have the phone placed in the right position.)
