Pixel 9 Pro Xl - tried all the suggested fixes and work arounds and my Wallpaper & Style app will not open. After trying it 4 or 5 times in a row the phone reboots. I sent feedback to Google through the phone itself. Does anyone have a possible fix? I do not want to do a factory reset as I have read that it did not help!

This still happens with January update today?

How do you access wallpaper & Style?
Through settings or long pressing empty page on the home screen?

I'm assuming you cleared data then force stopped the app?

This is weird ... I am not having an issue when I access it long pressing the home screen or going through Settings.
I'm assuming you tried Safe Mode?

Yes, I tried both access methods, and I do have all the latest updates and patches. Same thing happens... it simply will not open and after a few tries the phone decides to restart on its own. SMH

Just tried safe mode and the same behavior is taking place. The app just never opens.
What the HUH??!! Man, that is a head scratcher!

I hate this for you, but it looks like the dreaded factory reset may me in your future

Edit - just reread you OP and see you mentioned that reset doesn't appear to help, making this more strange!

What version of the app are you on? Mine says version 15 ...

Have you tweaked anything under developer settings by chance?

That's a bad glitch, just to confirm you cleared data and force stop the app ?

That app won't even let you roll back to previous version, it's a system app and to have a bad glitch like that

Yes, I have done everything that can be done short of a factory reset. On Reddit there are a few people having the same issue. One person did a factory reset and said it did not help! Everything else on the phone is working great, and I can live without the benefits of this particular app, therefore I do not want to do a factory reset. Maybe the Google gods will actually fix it, and if not, I can live with it!
Personally I think it has to do with the Tensor chip being used in the Pixel line. There are reports of strange things...bugs?... that some experience while others have no issues or they have different issues. I believe that some chips get through that probably should not ever get through but they are good enough for 98% of the phones functions. Just my theory. Looking forward to the 10 version being FINALLY a good choice!

I don't think the chip currently used is the problem your having but yes looking forward to 10th version as a Geek
Try clearing Pixel home launcher data then force stop it , it might be integrated and Google play service roll it back to previous version.

Just tried both of your suggestions and no help. Maybe...since I have another phone I can use I will try the factory reset.... CRAP! If I do and that doesn't fix it then.... well I don't know what then... we'll see how I'm feeling afterwards.

I'm not optimistic about factory reset, maybe flash the firmware? Or you're not familiar with that?

Well, it looks like the factory reset worked. I can now access the Wallpaper and style app! Now I just have to install my apps and get everything back the way I like it. I have to admit that during the first setup I did what I always tell others NOT TO DO... I allowed my previous phone to copy everything over. This is ALWAYS a bad idea and I am rather certain this is why I had the issue. This time I will install everything manually! Takes longer but it's much cleaner!
Thanks to everyone for any and all suggestions!

One little update...the factory reset worked as I previously stated except that now the option to select 80% charge is gone??? SMH
