Want bt audio without phone calls on car stereo

Car stereo is Dodge Caravan stereo with Uconnect software.

I disabled phone calls in the bt pairing permissions, but this promptly disconnected the phone from the stereo and wouldn't reconnect it till I enabled calls again.

DND mode and call manager software don't stop calls from disrupting my music on the stereo during bt pairing.

Is there any way to have the audio painting without annoying phone calls breaking in?

Thanks.

In the phone's Settings>Bluetooth menu, when you tap the gear icon next to the car stereo listing, is there an option for Media Audio as well as Phone Audio, or is it just Phone Audio? What model year is the car? Is this the factory-installed stereo, or an aftermarket?

When you say you disabled phone calls in the BT pairing permissions, do you mean you went to the Settings>Bluetooth menu and turned off Phone Audio in the settings for the car stereo?

OK -- so there's no Media Audio option there? If not, then that means the stereo doesn't support audio streaming from your phone.

There's media audio, but the phone won't connect to the stereo with inky that enabled. Phone calls have to be enabled for it to connect.

That is odd behavior. Perhaps it's peculiar to UConnect. Are you able to test the connection to a different car system to see if the same thing happens there?

In the settings for that paired device. There are no other settings.
Are you in the right setting, as below?

Yes. That's the one. As soon as I slide the slider for calls to the left (disabled), the whole connection is terminated.

To troubleshoot :
Unpair and forget the phone from the car and the car from the phone.
Clear the cache partition and reboot.
Rediscover the device and select the function which hopefully is available at this point.
