I have never seen an pure bashing thread on an iOS community forum. I'm sure they exist and I've never looked for one, but I feel overwhelmed by the frequency of such threads on Android community forums.

I do all the time. Mostly though, they just go around saying how their phones are perfect in every way, and everything else in a cheap junky knockoff. However, if an Android manufacturer managed to delay the release of the new iPhone over some inane patent trolling, their would be Apple maniacs out in the street with pitchforks.

No it wasn't. Apple used it's ITC exclusion status to have the phones held at the border. The courts did not order the hold, they merely had received a request for litigation.

If it had been handled in the courtroom there would have been would have been possible fines, not devices being held from consumers.

Other countries not as enamoured with Apple are sick of Apple's dirty courtroom tactics. Germany recently threw out all of Apple's cases, barred them from submitting any more ever, and threatened to fine them for wasting the court's time.

That's not what this is about at all. Those issues should be handled in the courtroom with settlements, not at the border. And even after the ITC decided there was no infringement, Apple re-submitted it to the courts in an attempt to delay the launch of other phones. They figure it's free for them, and they have nothing to lose. These are the dirtiest tactics that have been used in the smartphone wars so far, and it has nothing to do with protecting innovation. Go read what judge Posner thinks about the Apple patent trolling he just threw out of court.

They have a legal right to defend every patent that they own.

And in the case of the One X and EVO 4G LTE, HTC lost a case and their new phones had to be checked/cleared.

I don't think anyone here is naive enough to think that Samsung or any other manufacturer wouldn't do the exact same thing if they have even the slightest legal basis to do so.

I am quite certain all those smart men and women running these fine companies rightly subscribe to the belief all's fair in business within the loosely defined confines of the law.

Actually they don't. I am on macrumors often. They use their devices & talk about their products. There are no android hating threads there like there are apple hating threads here in numerous number.

You must not actually READ any of the threads over there where there is an Android device in the title. Or you just conveniently ignore them so you can make the claims like you are here. Because in every thread over there on Macrumors where someone posts about comparing features of the iPhone vs "insert android phone here", the iFanboys come out in full force just bashing Android with the same tired arguments that went out the window after Eclair.

There is a big difference between a comparison thread and threads like this one titled " Want to kick Apple in the A@$".

Comparing features invites spririted and for the most time constructive debate with some fanboism thrown in... subject matter and point of this thread is just pure 100% bashing.

I have owned tons of Berrys, iPhones and Android devices. I am not that loyal to a OS.... I get what suites me the best. I dont get wrapped up in the emotion.

I have been on many many forums, Crackberry, AC, Phandroid, iMore, Hofo. IMO, I think I can objectively say that Android peeps bash the most.

i think apple's time for dominance my start to falter, especially if they do change the connector on the phone and make alll the old devices obsolete. That's going to piss A LOT of people off. A lot of people are very impressed with my S3 and a couple are "seriously considering switching over". My friend's 4s died at a gig this weekend, the home button won't stop pressing so it keeps going to voice control and calling people and all sorts of wierd . So i suggested he removed the battery and put it in some rice. Oh WAIT YOU CANT!!! So he put it in the rice anyway, and then the button just stopped working all together. He had some dissertation work on the phone and now he can't get to it. I said why don't you just plug it into the computer and access the files? OH WAIT YOU CAN'T!! Why don't you just take the SD card out and copy the files?! OH WAIT!!! He has to sync with itunes and it got stuck in a loop trying to restore the phone from a previous backup. This was all before he manually transcribed 2 hours of voice memos (he's a reporter). So now he's phoneless and dataless. One day soon, people may open their eyes. IT's a real shame and the lawsuits i keep seeing just make me lose faith in humanity. The better product is right in front of their eyes , and you don't have to pay an upfront wedge for it either (not in UK) whereas apple will not allow a handset to be given away without an upfront charge.

You could also be talking about the HTC One X.. which happens to be an Android phone. So whats your point? The iPhone isnt the only phone without a removable battery/storage.

I'm actually involved in several of them. There is no bashing going on like there is here. I even mentioned I was getting the S3, as well as many others, & no one called me an android sheep or some other childish name. So you're quite wrong. There are very few android threads, because apple fans focus on their own hardware & software for the most part. They don't go around calling people names or making threads about android phones or google. They share ideas & help each other out. It's a grown up environment.

They had to spend ages at the border, proving the phone didn't infringe. The ITC passed them, deciding that there was NO infringement. So Apple got to cause a delay even when HTC did nothing wrong, and it cost them nothing.

You don't defend a patent by keeping people away from devices. The way it's always been done by companies not run by scumbags is to sue the infringer for damages.
