Want to Update Galaxy Tab 2 7.0

Hello. I have asked this on other boards but no answers as of yet. I have a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 with Android 4.2.2 that I have not used in a while and I have read that I can get a higher version of Android on it. What I read got up to 6.0 (marshmallow). Since there has been no updates since 4.2.2, please tell me if this is possible and how I would go about doing it and what version I can go up to. If you can, I would need step by step instructions as to how. Please help!

Welcome to Android Central! What's the exact model number of the tablet? It looks like 4.2.2 was the highest official version: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-tab2-70/GT-P3110/. There are probably custom ROMs developed based on higher versions, but this would require you to root the device. You can learn more in the forums at XDA-developers.com.

The model number is gt-p3113. Sorry, I forgot to add the model #. I have looked over at XDA and find it hard to understand the rooting process. Plus I have asked this question over there and no reply as of yet. I will try again and see fi I can find an answer.
