I found a very interesting app called viaProtect and installed it on my S5 just about a month ago. It tells you on a daily, weekly and monthly basis where the apps on your devices are talking to by both country and organization. It even tells you if the connections are encrypted or not.
One interesting example I found.
CleanMaster the app I use to remove junk files with shows China Telecom as the organization and lists China as the country of contact. It also showed all my traffic was not encrypted.
Take a look after running this app for a bit and see what you find.
