want visible, silent notifications

I can't work out a way of having visual, silent notifications. I want my ringtone loud and notifications unobstrusive. A slight beep would be OK.

Does anyone know a way?

You should have a separate volume control for notification and ringtone. Push volume button, when the droop down volume appears, tap the arrow icon on the right corner which should give you another drop down...

You can also go to Settings > Notifications and set them to be silent. Or Settings > Sounds and set your notification sounds to something brief.

actually the settings>sounds folder is empty.

When I go to Settings > Sounds I get the screen in the screenshot where I can select tones.
I use the G5 Plus. Soft, Clear and Ivory are brief non-disturbing notification tones in the G5 Plus. Otherwise you can also download other soft tones from apps in the Play Store.
