Wanted to love the HTC One m8, but too many issues

But nothing is perfect and you are never gonna be happy if you are always picky about stuff.

There's picky and there's sloppy assembly. Every phone I've owned has been PERFECT, assembled to a precise spec. There's always some bad bundled app or a battery sucker to turn off, but a phone should arrive in PERFECT condition to stand any chance at all of lasting even two years. I think OP is reasonable to expect no manufacturing defects in a new device, in a refurb you must be willing to forgive a little glue or some misalignment from reassembly...but new should look and feel NEW.

Godforbid but if my Flex needs repairs I wouldn't mind a looser volume button or similar cosmetic symptom of reassembly, if it came out of the box like that I'd consider if the problem was worth taking it in for exchange.

Outside of return/exchange period so no it wasn't an option or easy fix.

Thanks for the input.

It depends on your country ! Here in Mauritius, we don't have any kind of return period policy, if it has issues they will try to repair it even if you have just purchased it on the previous day, if they can't they will play with your nerves for at least 2 weeks before agreeing to replace it ! We have very poor customer service here

Sounds like his phone has some manufacturing issues. My M8 shows no glue and the speaker grills are perfectly placed and flat. My volume rocker is firm and functional. I have not quality control issues with my M8, it's fantastic. He should expect no issues IMO.
