Wanted to love this phone, but walked out without one

Really surprised to hear so many people disappointed. I had an iPhone 4S to replace my old Epic 4G phone. There were few things I really enjoyed about that phone. I hardly ever use the camera, maybe occasionally take a few shots here and there. As long as the Nexus camera is half decent, and its is, its more than enough for me.

The iPhone 4S had a great, sharp screen. However, one thing I missed was the Super AMOLED colors. I just couldn't get over the washed out, boring screen on the iPhone. My brother has an iPhone 4 and we went to check out the phones at Verizon. Although the iPhone 4 screen was a bit sharper, the color saturation on the Nexus was far more to my taste. The screen real-estate makes it all that much better. Browsing the net was much easier experience and more enjoying also.

I really like the new design with ICS, its simple yet elegant approach is just what I want. IOS may work for a lot of people, but I found it to be a bit cartoony and almost childish is a sense. Don't mean to offend anyone, just how it felt to me. I understand if someone prefers the iPhone 4S, its a great phone. But for my needs, the GN wins hands down. Big scree, 4G, awesome colors, beautiful customizable operating system. No contest for me :)

I love mine. No disappointment whatsoever. I'll be using the camera to take pictures and videos on my upcoming honeymoon cruise which starts Saturday. Verizon finally got around to giving me my late wedding present.

As someone who complained about the camera and who is still on the fence about this phone I will say that the screen was beautiful, the browser was buttery smooth and looked great on full web pages (espn.com) and youtube videos on the huge screen were awesome. I know no phone is perfect, just a little disappointed one feature that Samsung has done a good job on on other recent phones (the camera) seems to be subpar. For anyone who doesn't care that much about the camera this seems like a great phone. I'm just not sure I'm ready to commit to it for the next 2 years.

How does the camera in the Nexus compare to the Charge or the Fascinate? I thought both of these phones had a decent camera. I don't depend on the camera but having one is nice in a pinch and when you don't want to lug around the SLR.

I went in today and spent 5 minutes with one. I did not get it but plan on going back. I was worried about the size of the phone. It is slightly bigger than the Charge and just wonder how it feels in the pocket?

I can from a droid 3 and the camera on this is far better then any camera ive used. You cant compair tue iphone camera to this its not a fair comparison. The iphone is an dslr camera ( i might be wrong on what it is exactly) . There are 1000 dallor cameras that dont look that good. Take it for what it is. Its a good camera. Use a camera on a motorola phone and you will not complain.

Lol screen better on the razor...you both saw what you wanted. Enjoy the fruit.

Also those saying they "see the pixles" ..the ppi difference is less than 10 between these two phones. If you can see that quit ur day job and put that tallent to use

Every comparison I see from the Iphone 4s always leads to the camera... that seems to be the only thing people can try to compare... everything else is just one's opinion on the "feel" of the phone...

I read through this entire message thread and then realized a few things. Those that have "bought "the Samsung Galaxy Nexus love it. Human nature takes over at that point and it is natural to defend your possession. Those that have iPhones compare it to their iPhones, rightfully so, and they defend their possession. Both of these groups mostly have their minds made up about the Samsung and no amount of talking is going to sway them. I don't have the Samsung or the iPhone and I like many others gasped at every tidbit of info and eagerly awaited it. I played with one for hours today (yes I'm well known in the Verizon store). The whole reason I played with it for so long, was to convince myself that I was aking the right decision in buying it......of course I needed it, I'd been lusting for it for months. The software was as I expected. The hardware on the other hand was a let-down. Yes I've read where people are forgiving the cheap feeling plastic, the subpar camera (camera not an issue or me, as my hands are never steady enough lol), and a few other things. This is supposed to be the flagship for ICS. A flagship needs to be just that. If we were talking about our automobiles, we would not be keen to buy one with a great engine but poor everything else....yes apples and oranges but same concept. The Samsung in my eyes has become the beta for ICS. As in all betas, there's problems....betas are fine for those that want beta, I prefer that my $299 be spent on a flagship. I walked out without buying the Samsung Galaxy Nexus!

People really need to get over the fact that Samsung builds phones out of plastic. So does every other manufacturer. Plastic does not=cheap. Samsungs build quality is generally superb. People also need to stop saying it feels cheap because its too light. People always complain if electronics are too heavy, now they do when something it too light? Huh?

I agree. I purchased the iphone 4s but was very curious about the new Google Nexus. Yet another cheap, plastic Android phone, although the same cannot be said for the price. Thing is, I wouldn't rely on any significant future software updates to fix the phone or any other deficient operating features. That has been my experience with Android/carrier support in the past and would not expect it to change.

And you can't upgrade the poor weight and balance of this phone (IMO). For me its too big for how I use a phone. I am not sure what 4G does exactly. I suppose it drains your already limited data plan more quickly? Not bagging on others who want this phone its just that I am done with the whole Android thing until something more compelling comes along, and seeing and handling this phone just confirmed my suspicion this was just another Android device. I suppose the iphone OS is tired and boring but it works fantastic and does almost everything I need very well. It will be interesting to see how this Nexus phone holds up. I guess there is always the next one...
I think the fact that you don't understand what 4G LTE is amazing.

....and if the camera is the primo consideration in your phone choice then I can see the rationale. What's missing from the discussion is the rest of the phones specs/features/UI, etc. And the differences between iOS and Android are stark. I just won't consider an iPhone because I know it through owning an iPad and iTouch. I love the apps. And love using them in my comfy chair in front of the TV spending maybe 70% of that time playing games. I don't love the functionality of the OS and it, in the end, being nothing much more than an app drawer and launcher in my eyes. In my office of about a dozen people I am the only one with an android and most of the others own the iPhone. And they haven't a clue about Android and don't grasp widgets.

I was disappointed. I couldn't understand why my SG II feels like a better built phone than the Nexus being that it is the Galaxy Nexus. I loved my Nexus One and i hope next time HTC gets to build the nexus once again.

I went and played with it yesterday and I loved it. I can't wait to own it. It was super light but I squeezed it and it felt really solid. The screen is beautiful(I also looked at the rezound and that screen is gorgeous also).

I think some people like myself haven't upgraded in a long time (Droid Incredible) so these new phones are just incredibly impressive in comparison. I love the phone.

Coming from an iPhone to the Nexus, I don't actually see the big deal of widgets. I thought they were going to be waayyyyy cooler, but they are just tidbits of apps you can spew all over the place. iPhone users aren't missing out on that much. And where are those other features? What specifically about this phone is so good? I'm struggling to find it.

After 2 days of using this phone I am starting to wonder if I made a mistake. Sure I can share all over the place from app to app and every social networking site one could every hope to waste their time on. But the integration of simple things, like Google Calendar with my Nexus, appear worse on the Nexus than my iPhone using Google Calendar as an Exchange server. Using Google's own products better than Google has it implemented! And why are you people impressed with the Gmail app? I had much better control over mail from multiple accounts on my iPhone.

All the pictures I'm seeing, including mine, are washed out / yellow. The browser takes days to rotate orientation when i switch from portrait to landscape...i could go on and on about the little things. And they all add up. And they are starting to annoy the crap out of me. Hopefully I start appreciating all the stuff you people say makes Android soon, or I'll be dumping this puppy before the return period is over.

i have a 4s. Iphone users are missing out a ton. iOS is dreadfully boring and it is a apptray with wallpapers. Unlocked and rooted, oh this is going to be fun!
