Wanted to love this phone, but walked out without one

Either you do not have kids or you just don't understand what on the run means. Having a phone with a real nice camara in it, is a nice luxury of the times we are living in.

Usually women bring their purses with them everywhere they go, even "on the run".

I have a kid and I sell cars for a living... I use my phone's camera more than you do and I have just come from a OGDX and I was always pretty happy with it. NEXUS' CAMERA IS AMAZING and the pictures look great. I have never needed to blow up my pictures to 36"x48" and hang them in the showroom of my dealership, so I'm fine. In fact, I don't even know what people can actually complain about in regards to the picture quality!

Ya'll must be drinking too many energy drinks or something and giving yourself the shakes while taking a picture...

What if you don't have the "woman" with you?

A pocket. Trust me, digital cameras are not that big anymore. The GN's camera is not that bad either, if you tweak with the settings a bit you can take amazing pictures. It can also record in 1080p at 30fps, or 720p on default settings. It's a phone, so amazing Hollywood video is not expected.

Dude I get it, I was just answering
pauldroidr2d2 question.

I had an iPhone 4 for 13 days. My Droid X took a plunge downtown one night, I had just gotten paid, and needed to get on a new plan. So after all the fun I had with my X, I listened to my friends and picked up the iPhone 4. Three hours later I regretted it. I could do nothing to it. Great games, great screen but it lacked everything that Android does great. And I really did try to like it. I did my best. Jailbroke, Cydia, installed barrel roll animation to make it more like my X (even though i hate homescreen animations). Installed a wallpaper with weather updating and arranged my apps differently to make it appear as though I had completely customized everything... But I hadn't... and it didn't work. Returned it for a Bionic.

Different strokes for different folks. My girlfriend LOVED those 13 days and that's why she has an iPhone 4s underneath our tree, my Bionic is on craigslist, and my Galaxy Nexus is charging right next to me.

I'm coming from a 4S to the Nexus, and this camera is not amazing. It is absolutely shameful compared to the 4S. I've been trying to video and photo shoot my kid over the weekend and ALL the photos and videos look like donkey excrement. The camera does something weird and every single person in a photo has the worst redeye I've ever seen. The 4S never had this issue. And everything on the Nexus is blurry and off color. I feel really sorry for you and your previous experiences if you think this is good. I'm now 95% likely to to return this phone on Monday.

This phone is probably great for people with time to tweak, and for people who don't want high quality pictures. But not for me. And it's really hit home for me how fragmented and without a bigger picture Google's products are. Where the hell did my photos sync to? Some place online now called Photos, even though they have Picasa and Google +? And why do I have Messaging, Messenger AND Talk? WTF? Three apps to talk to the same freaking people? I could go on...but most people reading this's minds are already probably made up or their critical reasoning skills have shut off.

I have read thru this entire thread. Took me two days lol (I have kids).

I have an original Evo 4G.
One of the main reasons for getting it was for the 8mp camera.
I came from a BlackBerry curve. I took way more pics than I ever thought with that crappy camera.
So I was like great moved up to a better phone and camera.
Well the pics are great in daylight. Indoor or low light pics were subpar.
That was until my outer camera lens fell off.

With that lens off. My pictures are clear and low light pics are bright and clear.

What I think the I-phone has going for it is the optics. I think that the lenses are of high quality glass verse plastic like most phones. That makes a difference.
I mean people say it's a cell phone.. well if you look at most of the high end smaller digital camera's on the market. Hold up your cell phone camera ( well my evo with lens cover missing) you start to realize .... the sensor on most of those cameras really are not much bigger than our phone sensors.. it is the outer glass lenses that really make the difference for optics. Then the rest is the digital processor that does the rest...
Why a cellphone maker doesn't. Pair up with cannon and just put on their digix processor that is
Great at low light pictures????? That would be a phone then..

I played with the new nexus at the Verizon store yesterday.. as Sprints data speeds have become terrible.
Along with network errors for texts and dropped calls. Been looking to jump ship.

I played with the nexus for about 20 minutes..
I will agree with the origanal person that started this thread. I personally expected much better from the camera. Especially. Since Google stated how much quicker it is to take a picture...

I walked out not too impressed. I can just wait for the rom and port it to my Evo.

People that post on here about just use an actual camera..
I use to think that same way.. until you have two kids..
Lime yesterday waiting at the Dr office for my youngest. My 3 year old climbed up o the table and held him and gave him a big hug and kiss.. my phone was right there.
I took a picture that came out soo cute.
Now you tell me if you would walk around with an actual camera for that moment????

It has been said by many and even by people that do photography for a living.
The best camera is the one with you...

We pay alot of money for these phones. More than most HD camcorders now!( grant it not the high end ones).
Expecting more from our phones is not asking that much now a days.

Just my thoughts on my experience.
