Will sprint replace my device before the year is up since purchase if I show them where the status bar is faded into the screen? Or will they tell me that's what just happens with oled (which it is)

Figure might as well get a new fresh phone for another year if I can.

The 1 year warranty means nothing. If you're not paying for TEP (or the $4 ESRP) every month, it's $35 for a repair or replacement at any time that you have the phone - whether you've had it for 3 months or 3 years. Any warranty repair or replacement is free with either of the above. If Sprint won't do it, you may have better luck contacting Samsung directly - they honor their 1 year warranty for free, but you have to ship them the phone

How does Sprint handle warranty transfers? I have an EVO3D right now, with warranty, but I'm planning on buying a used Nexus S. Can I just stick a warranty on that?

I'm pretty sure you can add TEP to any phone within the first 30 days of activation. Even if the phone is old or used.

Correct. So if you don't have it now, you can just add it when you activate the Nexus.
