Warning, new keyboard update,

The character keys have changed position with today's update, took me 25 wrong attempts to input password before I realised the change of position of the "@#?%" keys!! As I use 2 of them in password and the have moved, now I have to look at what I am typing :-(

Yeah, it seems like it's more for texting funny faces than typing text. And I notice the "trail" it leaves is now white/gray instead of blue, when gesture typing.

It's just something to get used to. I just recently started using Google Keyboard on my phone, so I haven't noticed any problem, since I didn't already get accustomed to the prior layout.

The emoji button only seems to appear in the texting app, and not when you're more likely to need a carriage return key (like right now, while I'm typing in the AC app).

I kind of like the white trail. It's more visible than the old blue trail.

I noticed on my Nexus 7 that the keyboard no longer has all of the handy special characters you can type by pressing and holding certain keys rather than switching to the other keyboard. Is there any way to get these back?

Did the old keyboard have key press pop ups? I can't remember. I jump around to so many different devices I forget what does what sometimes. LOL
