My G2 showed there was a System Update available for download.. so I did. Then it wanted to install it, but had errands to run, so I waited til just about an hour ago. Finally clicked the "Install Now", and IT DID A FULL FACTORY RESET.. we NO WARNING!! We just took a family vacation this past weekend, so now all my photos are gone. GONE!! DAMNIT!!

Yes, I know there's an option to backup to the cloud, but I hadn't set it up yet. Yes, I will be doing that first this time. Piece of crap.

I got the update last week and it didn't reset my phone, but damn that would **** me off!!!!!

Rockin my LG G2

Very weird. That is the first I have heard of this occurring.
Mine rebooted, but back to the previous setup.
Sorry that happened.

Sent from my Sprint Tri-Band LG G2.

Damn, that sucks. Mine updated this morning and it worked just fine. No factory reset. Now you know why you shouldn't turn off your cloud sync though.

Do you guys know what this Sprint update is for? I haven't updated my G2 yet, I'm wondering if the update is beneficial or if it's an update that takes away features, and will I be able to update the phone with the new update?

Fixes audio issue and there is a Google security patch: https://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/143244

As long as you are not rooted, upcoming updates will be no problem.
Hopefully, the Tri-Band/Sprint Spark and also a Kit-Kat update are both in the near future.

This just happened to my wife's LG (G2 I think) last night. The update just happened with no confirmation or anything. Then BAM factory reset. All her data, pictures, everything gone!!!!

Totally unacceptable LG. I have had a Treo of various kinds for 10 years now and have NEVER lost any data. This is why I will hold out with my Treo for as long as I possibly can. These new phone are crap she has been through 4 phones in 4 years. Two warranty replacements for two different phone from two different manufacturers. Apple is no better. My current Treo 755p is still going strong after 6 years.

ATT tier 2 tech gave us a link to a program to try to recover the data. The link was to a Chinese website. I noticed and asked where she got the link. She said from Google support. When I pressed her about it she said oh I guess it was from a google search. Big difference! Boneheads.

ATT offered no restitution what so ever. Just kept saying this was an LG warranty issue.
We are now going with Verizon. Not that they will be any better but have to do something when you get no customer appreciation what so ever.

And what does this have to do with the Sprint G2?

I know, right? I saw this and got excited that there was some kind of update out there only to discover it was some AT&T guy who Googled and replied without thinking...

Oh well...
