Warning when phone out of range?

Does the Gear 2 have the ability to notify me when the phone has gone out of range? I never forget to put my watch on, in the morning, but I occasionally leave the house without my Galaxy S4 phone (which is spending more time charging since Lollipop).

There is a notification on the watch when bluetooth disconnects or connects. I have my notifications set to vibrate, so I get a buzz on my wrist whenever I get too far away from my phone. At work(wide open warehouse), this can be over 30ft away before BT disconnects. Hope this answers!

turn the watch notification volume to MAX so when BT disconnects you will hear the BEEP that lizardchest was talking about

I charge my phone overnight, powered off, so if I forget to take it with me, there would be no change of state
Presumably I have to turn the Gear 2 on, or do folks leave it on, but in standby.
If the watch was on, but in standby, then maybe it wouldn't warn me when I went out of range, because it wasn't connected when I put the phone on my wrist?
As long as there's an alarm if there is no connection when the watch is turned on, or taken out of standby (and the phone is off) , then I'd be happy.

I turn off my watch at night. When I power the watch on, there is a notification buzz when it connects to my phones Bluetooth. Kind of what you're asking for, but not quite.

Ever since I lost an expensive bluetooth headset whilst walking in open countryside, I've been somewhat paranoid about such losses. I suspect I'd be covered if I became parted from my phone during normal operation. The lack of the notification buzz when turning on the watch would alert me to the lack of the phone, and since this would always be when I wake up, the phone would necessarily be nearby. So I look to be covered in all circumstances.
Oh, the bluetooth headset was found by my dog the following day. I went for the "high tech" solution, wandering along my route with my phone turned on, waiting for the "headset connected" beep. I never heard the beep, but Nellie's nose sniffed out the headset.

The Gear2 can't work without your phone. To receive notifications it needs to be no further than 30ft away. Its only Bluetooth enabled. So maybe you should have the GearS which is standalone. Has its own number and data that requires a contract with your carrier
