The only real screw up is having a press conference 50 or so days before releasing the phone. Announcing the GN and IcS and then having complete and total silence for so long just looks stupid.

Agree. If they would not have announced it so long ago I do not think people would be as agitated. Why announce something if it is not ready for prime time? Just doesn't make sense to me.
Just seems like somebody dropped the ball somewhere. Have the presser in mid November if you're looking at a 12/8 release (assuming that's true). Seems like Samsung, Google, and Verizon never got on the same page.
...because they must have a bunch of rookies running this thing. Same rookies that would put their brand new OS in the hands of Verizon Wireless. Hopefully they will learn from their mistakes. Again, like I've said before, they need to sit in on the next Apple unveiling and take notes on how things are done.

The difference is google does not have the power and leverage apple does. I am sure google wanted this out already but are unable to force verizon to launch it.
The issue with me is that it was announced more than a month ago. THat's not good. The RAZR and the Rezound were both announced AFTER the Galaxy Nexus and are already out in the market. Why?

A month or so ago, give or take, I signed up with both Samsung and Verizon to be notified with updates on the release of the Prime. As of today, I have not received anything from either. So, any and all release dates and latest so called solid information passed along on this thread or any other on the internet has been best guess by who knows whom. So called experts or insiders or whatevers have come and gone. All the while, we suck their comment, all as fact. I remember back to the days of the Palm (Handspring) Treo 600, the first real American Smartphone. Same thing as today. Day after day, week after week people were BS-ing on release dates, specs and whatever, and everyone was drinking the lemonade. My original Droid works just fine and I don't need to upgrade. I will, if and when, a respectable replacement becomes available. For now, I'm out of the game. I'm tired of all the so called insiders passing along their so called inside tips, only to fuel the flame of misinformation. The nexus will be my next phone, I will stick with Verizon, and I believe Google Android is just getting warmed up. But, we got to relax, take a deep breath. Goodness, we're talking about a phone!

While I do believe that this is Verizons fault, I still think that Samsung an Google could just as easily put this phone up for sale through googles site directly. Since Verizon is taking so long to release why not release it sim free and let us buy it? We know that it can work on Verizons network so all we would have to do is open a new line at verizon or pop our already existing sim card into the phone. I dont see why Samsung and Google couldnt do this by next week.
This is not so unusual really. The ThunderBolt, Charge, Revolution, and Bionic were all announced and shown off in January of last year, but did not launch until March and much later. The RAZR announcement was obviously delayed because they had only just started selling the Bionic.
I think it was announced to counter the iphone 4s (rumoured iphone 5). But that was basically unrelated to Verizon and their Razr and Rezound plans. So it basically brought it out sooner then Verizon was ready for it.

Vzw is the biggest provider of phones with the best coverage thats why apple went to them with the iphone. The manufacturers need vzw, sad fact of life but true so vzw call the shots on release dates hence bringing out rezound and razr now, let them get started and then bring out gnex after
i have a theory - Google doesn't want to push and market the G-Nex too hard. why? because they don't want to alienate and sabotage their hardware partners. they don't want to cannibalize all of the other hordes of currently selling Google phones out there. so Google WANTS a soft, ambiguous launch.

Samsung is plenty happy to sell SGII's on all of the other carriers. and sell the G-Nex on VZW. if you watched the Samsung VP on the Fox News interview - he said something like - "Well we have the SGII on X, Y, and Z carriers - and we have the G-Nex on VZW." so it sounded like Samsung THINKS all of their bases are covered - which is essentially - "Galaxys are available everywhere for everyone!" do i agree with it? hell no. but i can understand the business decision.
i want a Sprint G-Nex!

I want this phone as much as the next guy but Verizon has their reasons for not announcing anything official and that's their call. If I don't like that there are two other great phones on Verizon I can go out and get right now. Waiting for the Galaxy Nexus is my choice.

i would never have an iphone or any apple product but they get launches right. Look at all the crowds out of the shops on release day and then compare that to the gnex launch and the bionic that should of been of been out months before it was
i never got an email either and lets face it, all the BS about people saying its going to be this date or i spoke to someone that said this date.. its all BS, none of you know a damn thing lol.. all pure hot air and wild speculation just for something to do..I'm sat here enjoying my razr .. i'm out of the game too
