Watch froze up?

Screen is dimmed and stuck - no responses to buttons or screen. AW on iPhone says reconnect watch.

Any thoughts on how to reset this?
 
Holding in the power button (the stem) for about 15 seconds woke it up. Then it went through a few pauses and stutters and finally starting working,
