Got a new NOOKColor about a week ago. Played with it for a day or two until my Ghost Armor came. I've applied half a dozen skins on other devices (iPod, BlackBerry, cameras, etc.) and have never had this happen. It makes me a little sick. Warranty is probably down the drain due to rooting it (Phiremod 4.1 is sweet).
After applying the skin, I first noticed a large black blotch with the NC powered off. The instant I powered it on and the screen lit up, I noticed at certain angles the cloudy splotches were bright, almost neon. Kind of like ultraviolet. I immediately powered off. Assuming it was water, I stuck the NC in a Ziplock bag with a small amount of rice and a couple silica packets from some new hard drives I had just bought. After a couple days, I noticed a little water clinging to the bag. However, I turned on the NC still in the bag and noticed no improvement, although the cloudy substance seemed to have spread, and the large black blotch seems to be gone completely.
Again feeling like there's no hope, I put tons of rice in the bag, plus all the silica packets I could find at home and at work, and let it sit for a couple days. I just powered it on to see if there was at least some improvement. There isn't.
Is this still water, or has the water dried and what I'm seeing is residue maybe?
Please help.
