We got pwned by the RAZR!!

Do you know what really grinds my gears?

that all the way up until i bought my Bionic (that i waited for with an upgrade available for four months), i was watching all of the leaks and blurry pics of the RAZR and knew it would be a better phone, but i figured since it took them most of a year to crank this phone out, there would be no way that i would be able to wait another 8 months for this new phone to come out, so i went ahead and bit the bullet on the bionic.

well you dont have to be a rocket scientist to know what would happen it you really did try to see if you could catch a bullet with your teeth.

Please tell me you caught it like Ace Ventura!!!!!!

I love my BIONIC.................there is always going to be something bigger and better...........ENJOY what you have............DO NOT be envious of others........The Bionic is a great phone and I am happy to have it.

Very well said! Me too!

WOW!!! That's a d!ck move by Moto/Verizon. I genuinely feel bad for you guys :'( I was so close to getting one too. From what I can see the RAZR beats the Bionic in every area. Especially that screen, oh my.

The display apparently is not all that great.

From the review on The Verge today:

While the RAZR is the first device to ever ship with a 4.3-inch qHD 960 x 540 Super AMOLED display, it?s not quite the achievement Motorola made it out to be at launch. First, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus features a higher-resolution 720p HD Super AMOLED display, and second, the RAZR?s screen looks pretty bad. Super AMOLED panels use the inferior PenTile pixel arrangement, and the RAZR?s 256dpi pixel density doesn?t hide it ? in fact, it seems to make it worse. Not only are individual pixels readily apparent, but text looks jaggy, there?s red fringing around vertical lines, and images seem to de-res when scrolling in the browser.

Compared to Motorola?s excellent qHD LCD displays in devices like the Bionic and Droid X2 and Apple?s industry-leading iPhone 4 / 4S Retina Display, the RAZR is a major disappointment ? and that?s before even taking into account AMOLED?s inherent love-it-or-hate-it hypersaturation and consistent off-axis blue color shift.

The Verge lost all credibility when they claimed the iPhone 4S had excellent battery life...and this:

All those who followed the DX2, D3 and Bionic before and when they launched knows that the screens was never considered excellent by all who reviewed them. Not saying those screens suck, but they were very hot topics that no one ever agreed on. SOme said they were fine, some said they sucked.

Like with all reviews, never go by one and never take any as gospel....expect Anandtech...lol. Seriously, use reviews as a starting point, reference. And decide for yourself.

I just left Verizon and checked out the Razr...personally if you have a Bionic there really is no need to get the Razr UNLESS you like the thinness...Camera is a tad faster at auto focusing but pics are the same quality..both extremely fast, the .2 cpu speed won't matter and keep in mind the Bionic WILL recieve an update shortly which will put the little differences like shutter speed on par with each other and I'm sure the battery savings feature on the Razr will be available soon as well.

I honestly don't know how people gripe about having 4g dual core phone that is only slightly less better than the razr

I think people are more upset that a better phone is being released only 2 months after the Bionic AND getting the Bionic to work normally has been a constant struggle. We all know an update is on the way, but it's been 2 months of torture.

Having seen the reviews of the Razr, I have no regrets at all. That poor battery life and sealed battery are just going to kill it.

I'm with you...I love my Bionic and would pick it over the Razr even now if I had to make a choice. I am not into thin and I don't like sealed cases. I like extended batteries and the ability to remove the back. I may like Razr's screen better, but that would not win me over the Bionic. I use CameraZoom FX and the camera works GREAT now. If the update fixes a couple issues, I will be a real happy camper!

I felt the same as you...until today. My coworker went to Verizon during lunch and got the Razr. I have to say that we got pwned.

all reviews are saying battery life is horrible, no surprise. Its ok, they can just get an extended battery......oh, wait.

Im loving my Bionic mote and more.

Trust me...the only battery life review anyone should take notice of is Anandtech's. And not all reviews are saying that..Phone Dog had positive things to say about battery life.

Hm I still love my Bionic... Weird... If this is what getting pwned feels like I wish it would happen more often :)

Coming from a Storm2, which I had no problems with and really liked, I am in heaven with my Bionic - it is buttery smooth (even witn MANY apps installed), FAST, call sound is much better, speakerphone works great, I love the size/look of the screen - my big complaint would be the 3-4G hand off; but there hasn't been a LTE phone yet that didn't need an OTA upgrade to make it better and I am sure that the one coming up will address that issue. I'll be curious to see if the Razr has fixed that problem...

no offence, but basing your opinion on one reviewer seems kind of ignorant. There are already dozens of reviews from different sources out there and most of them are complaining about battery life being bad. Sure, some have said its decent, but if you read the whole review it usually details turning 4g, gps, wifi, and numerous other features off to get that "decent" battery life. Honestly, what's the point of buy a 4g "super phone" if you need to disable everything "super" about it for it to last a normal day with moderate usage?

I got an extended battery the day I got the bionic on its release day for that very reason, never even charged the standard battery.

$300+ for basically the same phone as bionic, just no ex. battery option? No thanks.

Since Anandtech is one of the few sites that actually went into detail about the iPhone 4 antenna issue, and showed how it was a legitimate issue, yea I value what they have to say more than almost every other reviewer. I would put more stock in what that 1 site had to say vs almost every other site in existence.

They go into detail about most of their tests, battery and everything else. Its the ONLY site I know of that mentioned the audio issues of the GS2...that for some reason only the Bionic's audio issues gets all the news.

A lil example of these other reviewers:

One reviewer said the RAZR screen was worse than the Bionics. One reviewer says the RAZR's is better. Who do you believe more?

One took some very blurry pics, most others including users post some nice pics. Who do you believe more?

Some reviewers say battery life is fine, some others say it sucks. Who do you believe more?

One reviewer...might as well put them out there cuz they showed some true colors in their review..The Verge said the RAZR only had 1 noise cancellation mic. Just looking the RAZR in my hand I saw where the other mic was. But they are professional reviewers. I believe Anandtech wouldnt have missed something as obvious as that.

Anandtech was one of the few sites that showed how the Pentile issue can be overblown.

If its conflicting reviews from everywhere, why not settle on 1 or a few reviewers that gives you the info you need to know, for you? And for battery life thats Anandtech, for me. For pics , videos its Anandtech and Phone Arena. Honestly, those 2 sites are it for me, everyone else is whatever. BGR also had praises for the battery life of the RAZR. So its not all bad...

We DID get Pwned. I just played with the Razr. It's got a nicer screen, is very fast, and IMO, is nicer overall, than my bionic, even though the Razr has a non-removable battery. sigh.
