We have the new Moto G, you have questions. Fire away!

So if I put the phone on my desk, without moving it or picking it up, there is NO notification on display ?

Correct. The screen should light up at first when you get the notification, then go dark. Then it probably won't activate again until you move the phone. At least that's how it sounds.

Yes, XT1550 is DUAL SIM

This model, from what I've read, is for the Indian markets.

One last question. The vibrate function on the Moto G 2nd Gen and also the Moto X 2nd Gen is pretty weak (and has caused me and a friend to miss many a call while at work). Has this been beefed up on the new Moto G?

There is a CDMA prepaid XT1548 model.

I believe there are Moto G's that support the following:

  • GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz
  • CDMA 800, 850, 1900MHz
  • HSPA+ 850, 1700, 1900MHz
  • TD-LTE Band 41 TD2500
  • LTE Band 2/4/5/12/17/25/26
  • Micro SIM

Why does Motorola just not start making all of their phones compatible with all carriers. The Nexus 6 is, the new Moto X is going to be so why is the new Moto G lacking in this way.If Motorola really wants to shake things up this would be the way to do it.With a phone almost everyone can afford not a $400 one. Most people I know would never spend $400 on a phone.

Because Motorola doesn't make the processors and modems that go in their phones. I highly doubt that the low end snapdragon 410 has every LTE band or many of them. It's not like Motorola decided to disable some and keep others.

Higher end processors often have higher end modems and thus more bands available being able to be used on more networks. These processors also cost a ton more, so it defeats the purpose of what the Moto G is.

And your argument doesn't really hold water anyway. The Moto G is, by far, Motorola's best-selling smartphone.

Here are the specs for the Moto G.Moto G - GSM (XT1540)
LTE (2, 4, 5, 7, 12, 17)
UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 1700/AWS, 1900, 2100 MHz)
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

Moto G - Sprint Prepaid, US Cellular, Virgin Mobile (XT1548)
LTE (2, 4, 5, 12, 17, 25, 26)
UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 1700, 1900 MHz)
CDMA (800, 850, 1900 MHz)
TD-LTE (41 TD2500)
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

It is only missing a couple of Verizons Bands.I don't believe it could possibly cost much more for a modem that includes them. The modem is probably capable of those bands but if I had to guess I would say they are there just not enabled.I don't think Verizon would ever allow a phone this cheap to be purchased directly from a manufacture to be used on their post and pre paid plans anyway.

Verizon has dropped the regular price of the 3G Moto G to $39. Making way for this phone, or discontinuing the G entirely, only offering the E? ($69 now)

That doesn't answer the question I asked you.

There is no indication of Verizon support in that list. One VZW LTE band is missing, and Motorola's specs only mention Sprint prepaid/Virgin Mobile and U.S. Cellular.

So, again, who said it would be on Verizon?

I read an article two days ago that both the Moto X and Moto G phones will be available on all four carrier networks, "including Verizon", in the title.

Let me be a little more clear:

This androidcentral forum prohibits me from posting links here because I have less than 10 posts.

I've confirmed that that there is an off-contract CDMA Moto G, specifically for the Verizon network.

Are you sure that "all four carrier networks" line applied to the G? I have seen that wording referring to the Moto X Style.

You have confirmed with who? You keep saying you can't post links, but you won't even name a source or site name.

Moto X Pure Edition Does Indeed Work on All US Carriers, Including Verizon

It's from Droid-Life.

I stand corrected; It's the Moto X, not the G.
