We just got the Samsung galaxy an the screen doesn't work anymore, why is that

The phone is only about 6 weeks old an it has never been dropped an its bn in an otter box since day one.

It's hard to say based on the information you gave. Is there any sign of damage? If you plug it into the charger for a few minutes, is there any kind of response (the batter could be dead).

If nothing happens, at all, then the list of "what went wrong" could be a mile long. Anything from a bad processor, to a messed up power supply, faulty battery, etc. Being 6 weeks old, it should be within a warranty period though, contact Samsung, your carrier (if you got it from them) or the retailer.
