Wear watch with Mirasol Display. How I wish.

Mirasol Display I come to find is absolutely the best solution for wearable displays. It's not the prettiest to look but it's the best solution IMO for outside direct sunlight display. It's the least battery draining color display and would be best for always on solutions currently. Having the Ambient light on for the 360 killed 10% battery life within an hour or so. My Toq goes the whole day and night before seeing 10% lost. Pixel density is the least concerning on a wearable for me. Yes the colors looked washed out but between the Toq and the 360, I'm finding the Toq and Mirasol to be the most effective. I hope Qualcomm improves on the quality display of Mirasol and can get OEM to invest more into. The technology is there, just needs to be implemented. My rant for the day.

I have only heard of the display, nothing more. Sounds like it would be good to use on a watch.

Couldn't agree more... Make a Android Wear watch with Mirasol and I'll be the first in line to get one. The only reason I stopped wearing my Toq is because of the functionality of the Android Wear platform.

For those that have not experienced a Mirasol screen, here is a comparison pic I took recently. The weather was a bit overcast, so it wasn't direct sunlight... Still something to show how good Mirasol is at handling outdoor conditions.

All watches in this pic are on their "dimmed" / always on mode... Yes, the LG is on!

Pic of the same watches at full brightness (for the pebble and Toq the screen lights are turned on).

Awesome comparison. I feel that the only other watch I would get would be the SW3 because I believe it uses the same reflective display as the SW2 which is also very good. The only reason I took that back was because of the release of Wear. Sony made a wise choice and I'll be watching for this to be released. I'm hoping to something positive of the 2nd gen Mirasol display.

Couldn't agree with this more. I've owned the Toq since February, and the performance is just like clockwork - rock solid reliability and battery endurance is just superb. I have the Moto 350 inbound, but I know the Toq will run circles around it with its battery life of a week for me - I turn it off every night, it lasts me a week of normal use. Too bad no other manufacturer has picked up the technology for their watch screen, it really is the best in the outdoors. And among the other square smartwatches, I think it's the best looking in terms of overall design and build and finish.

Too bad development for the Row seems to have stopped already. Last firmware update was back in June. Now that Wear is out, more so I don't think that will change.

I don't understand why manufacturers haven't considered using Mirasol tech till now. Maybe it's more expensive than standard lcd? I know that lcd looks more vibrant, but lcd kills the battery like there's no tomorrow...
