Weather definitely not updating

OK, this morning I received the new version of the Gear app on my phone and saw no difference in the weather updating (not).

A few hours ago, I rebooted both the phone and the watch. Voila, weather seems to now be updating hourly.

I don't know if rebooting both is necessary, but give it a try. I'll report back in the morning.

My watch is the Classic version, phone is a Galaxy S4 running 5.0.1.

do you have weather set to auto refresh in the Gear app settings? I'm using a non Samsung phone, and we have an option under Settings - > Individual app settings -> Weather - > Auto refresh.
Yes I have it set to auto refresh every hour in the Gear app settings. I have the same setting as you do and it says "Every hour" for Auto refresh. If I click on Cities I can see the location I'm at and the temperature. At the bottom of that page it shows a small grey bar that says AccuWeather with the time it last updated. Right now it shows 11/24/2015 12:07 PM. There is a refresh circle. When I tap that it will update the weather and then push it to my watch.

So auto updates are working again! What I did was return to square one.

On my droid mini I deleted all weather apps (was only Accuweather) and disabled the built in Motorola weather app. So basically turning off all weather functions on the phone. I then set the Gear weather app (using the Gear S2 app on my phone) to update every hour with only the local location as my city. As expected the phone displayed nothing in the weather widget since that was disabled, but the watch updated on the hour. I then re-enabled the phones built in weather app, the phone widget displayed weathe, and the S2 kept updating. I added back the Accuweather app, only using the local location city, and the S2 kept updating but it now seems to update more frequently than every hour (which in my opinion is far too slow for weather), like every half hour. I set the Accuweather app to a 15 minute notification cycle. I am not seeing 15 minute updates but 30 minute ones are fine. Fingers crossed it keeps working!

Mine is definitely still updating, hourly. I didn't delete or disable any other weather apps, just rebooted the watch and phone after the recent Gear app update.

I, too, would like to see more frequent updates, but at this point I'm just happy that it's behaving as it should.

If you set any of the watch faces with a weather complication will it update by itself? I have all 10 cities in weather and one hour updates. Nothing updates by itself ever and I have S5 so I dont know how to go about trying the same thing on it. Anyway, firmware upgrade coming out soon.
Thought it might matter that instead of stock Samsung Accuweather, I run YoWindow with weather notification, which replaces Accuweather. I also use YoWindow as a wallpaper.

My S2 is back to not automatically updating weather again. Definitely worked for at least a week after the most recent Gear app update. Now, nothing. Nexus 5 phone.

It's now 11:30 and the last time my weather updated was 6:42. NOT hourly by any means. I've been working with Samsung and the pretty much refuse to acknowledge there is a problem. "Do a factory reset!" or "Return the watch!" The problem is the software isn't doing what is should, according to the number of complaints here. Get with it, Samsung!

I haven't been able to track mine exactly hourly the last few days, but I know it's generally following the daily/nightly temperature changes. Using it with Galaxy S4 phone.

Mine is not. When I open it I usually see the daylight screen until I update manually. Plus during the day, unless I manually update, it stays at 0600-ish.

I have not had a problem with the weather updating hourly. I am sorry it's happening to others.

I wonder what you did different. I am not getting any weather, heartbeat updates, etc. It just updates when I go to the watch app that sets the data.

This all seems to be contained within the watch, as heartrates also get stuck.

There really isn't many settings that effect these. So I don't think I have done anything different. I had thought maybe the weather app used on the phone could make a difference but the weather is not attached to any specific weather app. Steps are only working with the same shealth app. So again, nothing could have been done differently than what you all are doing. Strange.

Yeah, I don't think I did anything to my settings at all. Hadn't tapped the weather widget till right now, and it hadn't updated since 12/7 at 9:10am cst, the last time I tapped it. It had been updating hourly for a week or two, but stopped. Nexus 5 phone.

Well, my S2 Classic is back to not updating. Like others, it was working fine for a few weeks, then I checked this morning and it hadn't updated in almost 24 hours. Damn.

For whatever reason, my S2 seems to be updating weather as it should again. If I've received any software updates, I'm not aware of it, so I have no clue as to why the behavior has changed again.

Supersoulfly, since you seem to be the only one here who has the most current firmware update, is your S2 updating weather correctly? Thanks.

I have the 3G Gear S2 and have had it for about 3 weeks. I could swear that in the beginning the weather was updating automatically, but now it is not. I have checked and reset some settings that were discussed in previous posts and will update this thread as soon as I see if the gear has updated weather or not.
