WeatherBug Battery Drain

I'm having the battery drain issue with Weatherbug also. I've been running it for years without any issues but recently there are some days that I notice rapid battery drain and when I check the battery monitor, WB is consuming 45%. The odd things are that it isn't every day and my wife and I both have Galaxy S4's and she isn't experiencing the problem. I love the app but if WB doesn't fix the issue, I will have to uninstall it.

I am using WB Elite with my Turbo. I have the 4x1 widget always going and temp in the notifications bar as well. The background refresh rate is 30 minutes. I do not have my location on. The battery consumption doesn't even show up in my battery usage.
Is there an in-app subscription option in the free weather bug app?

Weather Bug Elite has a good 4x1 widget that I have not seen in the free version. Maybe it will be an option with the in-app subscription?
Also, WB is important to me because it has the only weather station in town. The next closest weather station is 20 miles away. So it really is the only option for me unless I want to settle for guesstimate information.

Since, in my case, this is fairly new and only on 1 of 3 devices, hopefully it is some bad mix of the current version of WB and Android 4.4.2 and updating either will fix it.. Until then I'm tired of force-stopping on days when it misbehaves so have removed it.

Same here WB Elite runs flawlessly & efficiently. I can't believe they discontinued it - if the current form factor is not improved, they are done.

It started happening to me on my HTC One M8 with 5.0. Not sure what triggered it but the drain was very noticeable and I wasn't getting an accurate forecast. Once I uninstalled it, battery life was normal again. I gave it a couple days and installed it again and it quickly started draining again. I moved on to the AccuWeather app. It's not bad and it doesn't suck.....the battery. :)

I am still using Weather Underground, and I'm still very happy with it. WB lost me as a customer with their patronizing emails and lack of action to correct the app.

Lots of folks saying the same thing. The problem is with the current version, I've seen no issues with the (now discontinued) Elite version. I'm going to run it as long as I can and if/when a new Android version makes it no longer compatible I'll probably switch to an alternative.
