So far not so impressed with google chrome.

i seemed to have worked out syncing things, and when i read about it, i like the idea of it, but i just dont like the layout (so far)

Havent figured out how to set a home page?

and i hate that it opens up to recent history, or most visited web sites more often than not. and not big fan of the bookmarks... .with ICS Browser+ it was pretty clear from the pic of the bookmark what site it was... but not anymore.

i am certainly open to learning about what i dont know?

anyone else have thoughts on google chrome, or other browers? (form and function!)

No home page. Your stock ICS browser is still there & I like it better than Chrome. Dolphin is a nice alternative to either.

ya, i am switching between the stock and chrome.

i want to stick with chrome (i like the idea of it and what it can do) to see if i can make it work for myself, but defintily open to other ideas?

I prefer stock Browser. It syncs bookmarks with my Google account, and it has the slick Quick Menu that you can activate in the Labs menu. It always seems to me that Browser is just as fast if not a little faster than Chrome, so I figure why bother switching? Besides, Chrome is a big app--it takes up about 40 or 50 MB of memory, I think, while stock Browser takes up maybe 6-8 MB (these numbers probably aren't super accurate, but it's a ballpark).

I know since the update the stock browser is 10x faster than chrome, but like op says I still like chrome for the features, it just doesn't surf as fast as the stocker.

Hallelujah!! For all the lovers of ICS Browser+, check out "Quick ICS Browser". It's a little different but also has some improvements.

The ICS browsers don't work on jb I thought.

Anyone know how to close the browser when you have a page open?

Used to just 'pull down' on the screen and get the URL and an X next to it that would close the page?

ICS controls work the same way, just swipe to the "X". Although it only has 2 rings instead of 3 in ICS plus, it is far easier to configure the commands and placement within them. It also replaces the single "Share" command with up to 3 selectable ones...faster, but takes up more real estate. Favorites saved by ICS+ were retained by the stock browser & are present in Quick ICS (also relies on stock version) as well and work the same way.

EDIT: The ICS Browser+ does not work on JB (for reasons unknown) however, it's near clone, Quick ICS Browser does...and, quite well indeed. Faster than Chrome and I've became rather spoiled by the navigation & control rings which are much superior to the stock browser.

The icon looks like tabs on to of each other. If you don't see it, you may have the sidebar turned on under labs. I'm thinking you are using the updated JB browser.

If you press the icon in the upper right, it should bring up the open windows/tabs. You will have the X option there.

Is there maybe a setting that controls that?

When I used to pull down on the screen I would get the web page address and that X on the right.

With the stock browser I don't get any of that info or the X.

Really missed ICS+ when moving to JB...Love this one, except for the fact you cant get to the URL field....Not sure how to enter a direct URL

It should be the globe icon on the nav ring. If you don't see it, I'm guessing you should be able to customize the rings to add it (which is one of the advertised features for Quick ICS Browser).

Where IS the stock browser? I might be dense, but I can't find it.

Tap the All Apps icon in the center of the bottom tray, then tap the upper left of the App Drawer screen to make sure you're looking at All Apps. It should be there, listed as Browser, assuming you're unrooted and haven't uninstalled or disabled it.

Ya. I'm having the same issue. Quick ICS doesn't support it either
