Weird Contacts Issue

I have a few contacts that as long as I have texts from them they show up when I search for their names in the "people" section of the phone app. When I delete their texts and search for them the contact info isn't there. However, if I enter their number instead of their name on the dialer their contact info shows up. I'm so confused as to why this would happen. Any advice?

Are you sure these particular contacts are not in a phonebook that you don't have visible in the People app?

What about them not actually being added to the People app, only linked through another app, like a social media one?

I thought about that. I checked and I used to have sim, google, and phone checked under sources. I just rechecked and for some reason sim got unchecked. Maybe it happened when I updated to 5.1. I noticed a few settings/customizations got changed when I updated. Maybe that will fix it.

Edit: I also exported my sim contacts to the phone. I'm sure between the 2 that will solve the problem. Thanks
