Weird Facebook update, notification bar

Have a Verizon GS3 and got a notification for a FB update today on Google Play. It wanted to update manually rather than auto like it usually does, which I thought was weird. But then after the update I have a FB icon up on my notification bar...and it wont go away. When I pull down my notification screen there is nothing there for FB at all. I tried rebooting the phone but the FB icon stays up there...and it is annoying me Anyone with any ideas?

That's weird--this was an issue a while ago, where Facebook was trying to get you to update the app outside of Google Play. I thought Google ended up saying that FB couldn't do that, and put an end to that. Try uninstalling Facebook (or uninstalling all of the updates, if it's a system app), then reinstalling again through Google Play.

Oh I think this happened to me too, if I'm understanding you correctly. To get rid of it, you open the Facebook app and go into settings, and there should be an option to turn it off. (I can't remember exactly what the option is called because, weirdly, I just went to check and it was no longer there in my settings.)
