weird home screen randomly shows up

this is on my wife's droid. no 3rd party UI installed. it's a vanilla 2.0.1 Droid. it randomly shows up sometimes and doesn't really "work", even though it looks like it should. anyone else see this?

i'll post image after my post count hits "10".

There is actually an app that activates this WITHOUT the magnet. Its called Car Home.
