Weird input delay

I've had the SM-908U 12 GB/256 GB (Snapdragon) for a week and I'm getting this slight delay where when switching rapidly between apps, the interface won't accept a touch for a beat or two. I'm coming from the S21 Ultra, Note 20 ultra, S20 Ultra, etc down the line and I've never experienced this little delay.

The best way I can describe it is like the UI loads first then the touch interface is a step behind it. It's not a huge difference, but if you're used to multi-tasking quickly it's very noticeable. Basically if I'm typing a word it will miss the first letter but pick up the next one right after so it's a very brief delay.

I'm using Swiftkey keyboard and Nova Launcher (old habits) @ WQHD+ resolution with Adaptive motion smoothness so maybe that has something to do with it. Otherwise the phone is stock with no Developer Options enabled. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this with a different setup or is there a setting I can tweak to make it better.

Thanks

I think it might be from Nova , try the stock launcher if it happens?

are you using swipe gestures or buttons for the navigation bar?

I'm using the swipe gestures.

I'm using Nova and have no hiccups switching between apps...

It's not exactly app switching, it can happen with any sort of screen transition such as the keyboard popping up or tapping on a different text box. It's really weird.

Could it be your animations getting hung up? I always go into dev options and change them to either .5 or 0.

OK let us know

OK, I switched over to the stock launcher and everything seems to be fine now. With Goodlock I was able to get the home screens to match what I had with Nova though the app drawer layout is annoying is only a 4x6 grid and the "priority" apps stickied to the top two rows (shouldn't I be able to choose those apps? 🤔).

Anyway, it's close enough that I can go with the stock and maybe try Nova again after an update. But I'm satisfied for now as it appears to be a software issue and not something baked into the phone.

Thank you for the suggestions.

Yeah home up can change those grids and your recent apps as cards, vertical, list etc..

Your welcome

They layout can be changed but it doesn't offer as many options as Nova. Plus you can't get rid of the "Priority Apps." Not a big deal just a little more limited.

Yeah im sure down the road they will keep adding to it but lot better then what's offered stock

I found someone with the same exact issue I'm experiencing, amazing.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ US Verizon on Android 12 UI 4.1

It is happening exactly as you describe it and I'm not sure when this started exactly but a factory reset so far hasn't helped. For example I'll have a game open and I'm idling and I get a message on FB that pops up. I respond to it and minimize and try to quickly go back to whatever I was doing in the game and my touches are NOT recognized for a couple seconds no matter what I try to do there's this delay and it happens every single time while trying to do multitasking. Enhanced processing has had 0 effect on minimizing this, making sure I have nothing else demanding running in the background, phone isn't overheating or running low on RAM, got plenty of storage space left.

Yeah I'm kind of stumped but when trying to play an FPS game like call of duty, it makes it borderline unplayable.

Edit: forgot to mention I'm using samsung stock keyboard but was using swiftkey before and tried switching thinking it might have been something to do with swiftkey but it persists. And I'm using Microsoft Launcher, not the stock one. Animations are set to 0.5

I did try switching over to the stock One UI 4.1 launcher and unfortunately same thing still occurs.
