Weird issue with my display....

Untick the auto box in brightness setting.

Tried that.

I tried every possible display setting to see if it was the source. Nothing changed that fact that in a low light setting the screen could not properly display blacks..... and splash screen images were distorted

Did you end up getting the device replaced with a better screen? Curious if you have a gold version.

I picked up a gold one today on VZW and am noticing the same thing. Pretty bummed.

I worked with VZW and got a replacement in store but unfortunately this one has the same issues. Not sure if it's a bad batch or what.

I also got a replacement for mine with best buy about a week ago and this one has the same issue as well. Mine is in gold. If i turn the brightness up while watching videos however its not too bad. So apparently that is what ill be doing.

Just noticed this when opening Netflix app in dark room on black 64gb international edge +.... When I tried a screen test everything was fine. Afterwards, Netflix was also fine... Very very weird!

Sometimes the screen of my phone is dimmer a little bit. It seems there is a fault on auto brightness.

My new device doesn't have this issue so I am satisfied.

Actually that's not 100% accurate. I realized on the new device that if I had on the night clock it would have this problem. As soon as I would wake the phone, before I unlocked it, the screen would be "white washed". I could tell the blacks were not as dark as they should be for example. And if I unlocked the phone while this happened the display would behave exactly as the pictures I originally posted. Night clock is off and everything is 100% correct (don't care about night clock anyway)

You can see the distortion off to the left in a screen shot I took of the blacklist. Mostly dark videos I see it.

Edit: Once i posted it you cant see it anymore and when i resumed the video it wasnt doing it anymore

Screen defects do not show up on screenshots..

Having same problem. Called carrier and was told it's a glitch on all edge devices and Samsung is aware. A little discouraged though that when I googled the issue it mostly came up with hits from April, so this has been going on since at least then with no fix yet. What is Samsung/Google waiting for?
