Weird marking around rear cameras on new Note 8

Ello all. :)

I was still within my 31 day cooling off/grace period for my new Galaxy S8 and saw that the Note 8 was available for pre-order (UK)... so I couldn't resist but to swap it for a Note 8.

WOW.... the S8 was a beautiful phone but the Note 8 is truly awesome. I love it lots. :)

Anyway... on to my issue. Today I was admiring it's build quality and I noticed a weird mark around the upper left hand corner of the rear camera bezel. At first I thought it was just a shadow but no matter which direction I shine a torch at it the mark stays put.

I've uploaded a photo of my Note 8 so if any of you have a Note 8 please will you take a look and then check yours and Android if you have the same marking? I'd like to know if its a manufacturing defect or all Note 8's have the same mark. It might not be visible on a black Note 8.

You may have to download the image and then zoom in to see what I'm referring to. It's a darkened area above and to the left of the camera bezel.

I have a midnight black one and I see it around my camera side too. It looks like they designed it that way.
 
Oh... strange isn't it? I'm interested to see how many othes have the same marking. Hopefully more will come and post.

I saw it clearly on yours, almost like the marking for where they wanted the camera, and where the camera was out, weren't lined up. I just removed the case on my black Note 8 and can't see it on mine. Are any functions impaired at all, or jist that shadowy off-alignment thing around the camera?
 
I haven't noticed any functions not working. Just that shadowy mark. Yeah... its like the machine used to mark where the cut out for the cameras will go was misaligned and it marked the wrong area. But then it realised that it was wrong and marked it properly the second time. :D
 
Can't see mine as I got a clear matte slickwrap on back of my note8. And I don't think mine has that. And I would definitely notice lol. Even mine being the black one.
 
I apologize for my mistake. As I was about to take a picture of the back of my phone to send to a friend I realized what I was seeing on my phone is the clear plastic still on the back of my phone. Sorry for the misinformation.

Hey... no problem. I thought it might have had something to do with the plastic film so I double checked thinking I might have missed a bit, but no... no plastic left on.

Im going to call Samsung. Expensive phone.. it should be perfect! :)

I called Samsung today and they are sending a replacement Note 8 tomorrow. They didn't even want to see the picture of the shadowing. Just very quickly took the IMEI and serial numbers and arranged delivery. Simple as that. Impressive customer service. Im now very interested to see if the replacement has a similar marking or not. :)

That's great to hear. Glad they are taking care of it. I have the Orchard Grey and don't have that mark.
 
lucky you. Here in US, you need to do a "return" of your phone, along with free gifts/ accessories, then order again.

Impressive customer service? that was a good one. SAMSUNG SUCKS A$$. I'm still waiting for my note. Which is fine but the customer service is horrible. They never even give me updates and when I call them they never have any answers.

Well for him it was awesome. You can't say they suck for everyone as everyone has a different experience. Sorry to hear though yours wasn't as good.

Speck for yourself most don't have issue with samsung are there customer service

He had a minor aesthetic issue with his and they're sending him a brand new Note 8. I'd say that definitely qualifies as impressive customer service. Samsung has knocked it out of the park with this device so far.

OMG!!! You! ... You!!! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrggh!!!! I wanted an orchid grey one!!! You! You.... ######!!!!! :D :D :D I'm soooooo jealous!!!!

However... now that I have had the Gold one for a while I actually quite like it. :) I found it so difficult to decide whether to get a black or gold one (which are the only 2 coloUrs available right now in the Uk... or so I've been told) but I thought that it's likely that most people would go black as I have always done until now.... so I went gold for a change and to be a bit different to the majority.

And now that I've ordered a Samsung clear view case... in gold... I think I'm finally happy with my decision. I think whats made it so difficult to finally settle on a colour is because Ive still got time to change my mind. Ive still got about 20 days left on my cooling off period. If I didn't still have the choice then I would be 100% happy with gold.... I'd have to be! :D

Sorry... I've just realised that I'm rambling on and on.....

I had to re-arrange delivery of my replacement N8 because there needed to be someone at my house to sign for the delivery and there wasn't anyone here today. So it's now coming on Friday. But when I get it I'll report back to let you know if it has any marks. Hopefully it won't. :)


Orchid grey!!! LOL... your now going to tell me that your in the UK aren't you? :D

They sure do. SO bad we are suing Samsung US. WORST customer service we have experienced. Tim Baxter the CEO is a POS.
