Weird problem: the phone automatically dial when playing music

Hi there, I have encountered this problem constantly in the past several weeks. When playing music, the phone will keep dialing someone in my contacts and interupt the music.

Does anyone else has this problem? How can I solve it?

I am also seeing the same. My phone will, very randomly, try to dial out via voice commands when I am listening to streaming music through headphones. Defective phone?

Experiencing same problem here. The phone sometimes randomly skips through songs and fast forwards also in addition to it desperately wanting to do a voice search at random. only happens with headphones. Very annoying. I dont think its a defective phone because so many of us are having problems with it, and i doubt all our phones are defective. My guess is its a bug inside the player.

I have expierenced this same issue. Goes to Voice Dial when i am playing music on my Rhapsody App with the headphone jack in playing through my car speakers...

I have noticed the same, however, mine only does it when hooked up to an external speaker via a aux cable. I have yet to have it happen when using buds

had same problem with my atrix...thought it was pandora, then thought it was phone...turns out it was bad headphones. Must have been causing some sort of short causing the voice dial to repeatedly pop up. Using new headphones and no more problems.

The reason this happens is hardware related. Htc cannot fix this with an update. The 3.5mm headset jack has four contacts inside (left & right audio, mono microphone, ground). The TRS (tip, ring, sleeve) jack used by earbuds and aux cables can easily make inappropriate contact inside tricking the phone into thinking a microphone TRRS headset had been inserted.(this happens especially with cheap audio products with lousy design tolerances)

You will probably notice that the status bar shows the microphone headset icon rather than the simple stereo headset icon.
