weird voicemail notification / music issue

Hello all,

I had a strange issue for the first time with my Galaxy S2 that I've had since Dec. I turned the phone on this morning, and what I assume is the Samsung startup music played continually and LOUDLY. I rebooted the phone a few times and each time it happened. I have had a voicemail notification I hadn't opened since last night. Once I opened the voicemail and it was no longer in the notification bar, the music issue no longer happened. Has anyone experienced this? I am not rooted, otherwise I'd like to just go remove the startup song entirely. I don't want to have this happen in a public situation!

I have heard this music too! I called Samsung and T-Mobile, and they claim they don't know what I'm talking about. However, it just happened again, and I got it recorded. Is there a way to upload an mp3 so you can confirm it's the same music?

It's frustrating. The music starts up at boot (I'm not rooted, using a Galaxy S2 on T-Mobile) and WILL NOT STOP. If I mute the phone, I don't hear it, but if I turn sounds back on, it's still playing. It last at least 30 seconds and LOOPS. I HATE IT.

I notice that it will stop if I get a text message in the middle of the music, but that's about all that will stop it. The volume controls DO NOTHING against this --- it just keeps playing.

This has been going on for several months now. It didn't happen when I first got the phone in August, and didn't start until about January.

Today, for the first time, I *did* notice that the music played upon receipt of an email while I was plugged into USB, but not "Connected" (I was just using USB as a charger). It happened twice with incoming email from third parties (i.e., not email I sent to myself from my Gmail account).

I thought it might have something to do with the WiFi calling feature that was installed in the last update, but I can't get any confirmation.

Any help on ridding us of this nonsense would be much appreciated.

I'm glad that I am not the only one. I don't think I am technically savvy enough to capture the mp3. It just sounds like lame infomercial music sort of. But you are right, the volume controls do nothing. The only way I could get it to stop was by dragging down the notification bar at the top. For me it is still only happening when I power the phone on and I have a missed call or an unheard voicemail notification. Once I clear that out, the issue doesn't happen anymore. Fortunately it doesn't happen often, and maybe the ICS update will clear it up.

SOLVED MYSTERY... Re: weird voicemail notification / music issue

SOLVED SOUND ISSUE: This issue is indeed a notification sound by your email system. What I found was one of my 3 Gmail accounts though the Android email app, was turning on a sound for notification and it will play until you go to notifications screen. My particular sound was a music file called "Faint" which repeats over and over. Quite irritating to say the least. Open the Android Email app, go to Settings/Added accounts, click on each account and scroll down to "Select ringtone". I changed it to another softer and short tone for each email account. I then closed the app, went to my Home screen. Hit the phone Settings button then Sound/Volume and for the Notifications Volume turned it way down. This solved this annoying issue that has randomly plagued many Android users! I've even been woken up by this. By the way, mine did not start till I updated to the new ICS 4.0 a little over a week ago. However it may have been the email app itself updating that caused it to start.

My boyfriend and i have this exact same problem. i just dont bother switching my phone off. he does though and i have to send a text every morning to stop the music. the emails arent set up on his phone so the fix doesnt work. does anybody else have any ideas. this has been the only question in all of google which accurately describes our problem. thanks in advance x

Silent Boot app on Google play worked for me. no more annoying start up sounds!!!!!!!!!!!!! finally.
