I know nothing about rooting, hacking, or any of that stuff when it comes to android stuff, I, like most others, have been waiting for gingerbread for my droid x, stock verizon approved what is it, .340 wasnt cutting it no more. I got to looking around on the internet, and found a download link of .588 and thought to myself, "should I go forward? I really don't know what Im doing", and then the excited part of me said, "go for it, live a little", will...now I want to go back to the verizon approved stock froyo, and I don't have a clue how to do this.
On a website I got .588, it said to download it, move the file on the root of your sdcard, rename the file update, or update.zip, god I dont know, then turn the phone off, hold the power button and home button, then use the volume rocker buttons to select update.zip, and I was on gingerbread.
I've tried to do some reading, searching through threads, and Im overwhealmed, Im drowning and dont have a life jacket here. I've read that one can update to .595 and still be able to get the OTA update when verizon releases it, how do you do this being on .588? Im happy without being rooted, being all stock, what ever the heck is my best suggested option here.
I downloaded a zip file of .595 off of droid x forum, got it on my phones sdcard, and the guy said something about using clockwork recovery to install it, WHAT?, Im assuming thats powering the phone off, holding the home and power buttons and using the volume rocker to select what you want. I tired this, and all I get is the little android man and a exclamation mark and wont let me do a thing, so I pull the battery and try again, same thing. Im freaking out here man.
HELP!!! Thanks
