went to T mobile and played with their S model

I only just heard about the GPS fix thing today. The lag fix I heard about weeks ago before the Vibrant was even out...

Finally got around to doing this, and I have to say Im sold! The phone felt light and good and ran as fast or faster then the evo's my brother and mom have. Even if the keyboard isnt perfect Im getting it ASAP upgrade or not.

So I go to a T-Mobile store and they have this whole shrine set up for the Vibrant, but the phone was gone! The T-Mobile people acted like they didn't know about it. Oh well :)

one of the t-mo guys played a joke on the other who handed me the vibrant demo on release day (not chained). He pretended i didn't hand it back, and the original guy almost jumped the counter to come after me when i was leaving. It was kinda funny.

I went to the T-mobile store in Oakridge Mall last night to look at the Vibrant. The screen was really nice and so was the over all size of the phone. The one thing that bugged me was the removed Avatar from the phone so your couldn't see the screen in its full glory.

2nd T-Mobile store: "Do you have the Vibrant on display?"
- "nope"

Man, where do you guys go to see this phone?

But of course, the Behold ii was sitting right on top of the front pedestal...again.

Neither of the strip mall T-Mobile stores I tried had the phone at all and didn't know much about it. The third one I tried (in an upscale mall) only had one unit which they kept in the back and had just enough battery charge for a 5-minute demo before it shut itself off.

I was really hoping to compare The Sims 3 on the Vibrant versus on my Pre, just mainly out of curiosity :)

I'm scared to thoroughly demo the AT&T version. Chances are I would end up walking out of the store with one.:p

How did it feel in those 5 minutes?

Heh, it was certainly lighter than I expected, and once it finished booting the screen was remarkable. It refused to play Avatar (low battery) so I couldn't really run it through its paces. The main things I got out of the experience is that:

  1. Touchwiz ain't all that bad! :)
  2. Very comfortable in my palm, moreso than the Evo, especially when comparing the power button placement

Sounds great! I'm going to look for a store again tomorrow.

The demo I used was monitored by a store rep like a hawk. The display model was a fake and I had to ask a rep.

I too was worried about this, so I kept telling myself that it doesnt have a keyboard and I was fine.

Granted mine didnt have 5 min on the battery, but there were people waiting to see it as well so I didn't get to use it too much. I also have to admit touchwiz is pretty cool and I like how the phone is setup. Im still a big fan of sense though, but honestly if given the choice between the 2 UIs I couldn't choose easily. The screen was so beautiful that I had a hard time using my pre again. The high resolution and AMOLED made the pre even more painful to use which is a shame because I love webOS.

Yeah, I currently have a Sense Phone, and will be switching to this over the Evo. It will be weird, but I can't do AOSP Roms. I know they are snappy and work just fine, but I can't get used to it as a Daily Driver. I didn't get that feeling though, with touchwiz. Its pretty enough to deal with, just like Sense. And hopefully, everything works, unlike Sense 2.1 on my Hero (Facebook sync, I'm looking right at you!). I'm tired of the network dropping every night and having to put in Airplane mode to reset it. I love my phone, but it needs to be put to rest.

I loved touchwiz and the feel. Granted I dont own a droid but I get to play with an evo whenever I choose too and they made a great UI too but touchwiz seems to incorporate alot of the neat gadgets that sense does. Honestly I dont think I or my family will feel sad when we get our phones and no longer have sense to play with.

Finally got to look at the Vibrant! Waited in line or 35 minutes, but I got to spend a long time with it. The colors were amazing and Touchwiz was actually really nice. The phone was ridiculously light and the screen was big enough, even after owning an Evo. The only thing that was strange was that it seemed kind of pixely which would probably bother OCD people, but it didn't bother me at all as everything was pretty crisp anyways. The camera took good photos and Avatar looked super good. The lag issues were indeed present, but it was just a demo phone anyways. I downloaded air hockey (the app with major lag issues), which played horribly on the Evo, but the Vibrant could almost completely cancel out the issues! I really can't wait for the Epic!

Hmm I didnt see any lag with the demo I was using. Eitherway Im hoping that the epic has the newer firmware and wont be laggy like some other galaxy phones have had.

I went and spent a bit more time with the Captivate today at AT&T. I would have liked to try the T-Mobile version since there's less bloatware and I could have possibly tried out Avatar.

Nevertheless I gave the Captivate a go. Seems like a nice device. Screen is sharp. Still pretty impressed with how light the phone is. I'm not too sure how I feel about the internet browsing. The double tap to zoom worked great on text but didn't seem to reformat pictures.

This is going to be a tough transition for me. I use my iPhone A LOT for internet browsing. Any time I don't feel like dragging my laptop back to the bedroom I just pop on my iPhone. I really hope the Epic can fit the bill.

The only actual lag I experienced in the short time I had with the device was unlocking the phone (swiping the "glass" layer). I just chalked it up to having been freshly booted.

Hoping to visit the same store tomorrow to try it out for a longer period of time.
